This is an adjunct to the USA Warranty problem above. Many times the equipment is sold as "the same as.. such and such model". Instead of the N90s it is the F90x. This is just a way of getting around US import laws. The models sold for the US are supported by the US subsidiary. They provide the sales and repair staff, the parts centers and distribution facilities. They pay the representatives and pay for the advertising. Some of the less scrupulous dealers "parallel import" the non-US version of the equipment to make more money. The game is bait and switch, it often times isn't the same model with just a name plate change. Consequently, if it ever needs repairs the parts can be hard if not impossible to get. The specifications are different and they can be unrepairable by US Authorized Service Centers. Moreover, some of the US manufacturer repair facilities will not even accept a gray market camera for even a non-warranty repair.
